Green Nanoparticle-Aided Biosorption of Nickel Ions Using Four Dry Residual Biomasses: A Comparative Study

The green synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles was performed using the sol-gel method for their use in modification several agricultural biomasses (orange, lemon, cassava and yam peels) to evaluate enhancement adsorption capacity. To this end, different particle sizes (0.355, 0.5 1.0 mm) initial solution pHs (2, 4 6) were assessed identify optimum conditions further experimentation with selected lignocellulosic materials. defined reporting highest removal yields used perform experiments chemically modified biosorbents. biomaterials characterized via elemental bromatological analysis order quantify composition. After incorporation TiO2 nanoparticles, resulting biosorbents FT-IR SEM techniques. results revealed that pH significantly affects nickel ion uptake, reaching best performance at = 6 all biomasses. Unmodified shown capacities between 18–20 mg/g. For orange peels biomass, increase 21.3 18.01 mg/g, respectively. lemon modified, it found increasing values respectively, which suggested enhances capacities.
